Precise rope testing in Belgium: ROTEC’s R140 rope testing device in use
On October 28 and 29, 2024, our employee Sebastian Traub was on the road in Belgium to inspect the stay cables of the pedestrian bridge in Obourg in cooperation with our partner Vinçotte.
The ROTEC R140 rope testing device was used for this purpose. This rope testing device was specially developed for testing large ropes and cables and has proven itself time and again in demanding projects. The bridge’s stay cables consist of parallel strand bundles – a construction that poses particular challenges for conventional testing technology.
Dank der innovativen Sensortechnologie des Seilprüfgeräts R140 konnten bei der Überprüfung neue Erkenntnisse gewonnen werden, die mit klassischen Spulen nicht nachweisbar gewesen wären.
Diese neue Technik ermöglicht es außerdem, sowohl kleinste Defekte als auch Anzeichen an Schäden innerhalb der Litzenbündel präzise zu erkennen. Gerade bei Schrägseilen, die täglich hohen Belastungen ausgesetzt sind, ist eine exakte und zuverlässige Kontrolle folglich entscheidend, um die langfristige Sicherheit und Stabilität der Konstruktion zu gewährleisten.
The successful cooperation with Vinçotte – a member of the KIWA Group in the inspection of bridge cables underlines the importance of modern technologies and experienced specialists for the maintenance and safety of infrastructure projects.
With the R140 rope testing device, ROTEC relies on innovative solutions and precise sensor technology that enables both reliable and detailed analyses.
