Rope inspection at the Zipline Alpspitzbahn – operating at lofty heights.

Alpspitzbahn Zipline Rope Inspection: Our ROPESYS R28 rope testing device was recently deployed at the spectacular facility in Nesselwang. It performed routine inspections of the suspension cable of the popular AlpspitzKICK Zipline. This time, however, the inspection was not only technically exciting – it was also impressive on a human level.

Zipline check with courage, technique and experience

Jana, one of the responsible employees at Alpspitzbahn Nesselwang GmbH & Co. KG, supported our team in conducting the test on-site. She became part of the technical team: secured her harness, put on her helmet, and then hung from the rope, directly beneath our R28 testing device.

However, this kind of cooperation is not something to be taken for granted. After all, traveling at lofty heights requires not only trust but also courage. Once all the safety devices were correctly in place, the descent began through thick fog – accompanied by the fully automated ROPESYS testing device, which monitored the rope from both inside and out.

Why regular rope inspections are so important

This isn’t just a matter of routine. The zip line’s suspension cable is exposed to extreme stress every day. This is due to its summer and winter operations, as well as to changing temperatures, humidity, and mechanical abrasion. Therefore, cable car operators like the Alpspitzbahn must have their systems inspected regularly.

After all, passenger safety directly depends on the flawless functioning of all components. ROPESYS provides the appropriate technology for this: contactless, magnetic induction, and precise. The measurement data is recorded live and later automatically evaluated – for maximum reliability.

Annual support by ROTEC

Both the zip line and the other Alpspitzbahn facilities are inspected annually by our ROTEC team. Our experts pay attention not only to the suspension cable, but also to all safety-relevant details of the entire facility. Because technology alone isn’t enough – experience, responsibility, and a trained eye are also required.

We thank the Alpspitzbahn-Nesselwang team for their long and trusting cooperation and wish them all the best for the coming summer season!

If you’d like to experience the thrilling zipline ride yourself, the Alpspitzbahn in Nesselwang is a true highlight in the Allgäu region. And with certified safety, the adventure is twice as much fun.
