ROTEC at the OITAF World Cables Car Congress 2024: Innovation in rope testing
From June 17 to 21, 2024, the 12th OITAF World Congress of Ropeways took place in Vancouver – a meeting place for experts from the ropeway industry from all over the world.
Sven Winter, one of our dedicated employees at ROTEC, was also on site and gave a much-appreciated presentation. He presented our innovative rope testing device and explained the future of rope testing.
We are particularly proud that Sven was praised in the trade journal ISR – Internationale Seilbahnrundschau. In his presentation, Sven shared the latest findings of the OITAF Study Commission II, which deals with rope technology.
One of the main topics was the calculation of rope service life as early as the planning phase using the Feyrer method – a method that ensures greater efficiency and safety in the ropeway industry. He also discussed how permanent magnetic rope testing with real-time analysis is becoming increasingly important.
A particular highlight of his presentation was the introduction of new measuring techniques made possible by our rope testing device. These include the measurement of lay length and the localization of wire breaks within individual strands.
These new procedures represent an important milestone in ropeway maintenance and safety and demonstrate the potential for optimizing rope testing worldwide.
Sven Winter’s contribution was very well received and demonstrates ROTEC’s commitment to keeping its finger on the pulse of technological development.
Our company is proud to contribute to safety and efficiency in the ropeway industry with innovative solutions such as this rope testing device.
