Early shift at the festival grounds: first the cable inspection, then the fairground fun.

When it is still pitch-black and dead silent at the Cannstatter Wasenat 6:00 a.m., things are just getting started for ROTEC. Before the first visitors even start thinking about cotton candy, our teamfaced a top-tier safety task: the official hoist rope inspection for the “Freefall Tower Wasen” (Fortress Tower).

Our inspection experts Sebi and Dirk took a very close look at the free-fall tower’s steel cables.

Where free-fall usually provides the thrill, the early morning was all about precision, standards, and absolute safety.

Hands-on experience: Office team on a fact-finding mission

This time, Sebi and Dirk weren’t the only ones out on the festival grounds. Their colleagues Nifti, Benny, Dieter, and Pit—from Production and Development—seized the opportunity to briefly swap their desks for the festival atmosphere.

In this way, they experienced firsthand how a hoist rope inspection for the Wasen Freefall Tower is actually carried out.

Instead of software code, CAD programs and emails, there were visual inspections, diameter measurements and real insights into the everyday testing work of our field engineers.

Measurement technology instead of office routine

For the staff from the internal department accompanying the team, it was fascinating to witness the precision involved in every single rope assessment. Every meter of rope was meticulously inspected and measured.

An experience that not only left a lasting impression but also significantly strengthens understanding between the office and the construction site.

From vertical meters to soaring spirits in the beer tent

No sooner was the final measurement in the bag and the tower cleared for use than the crew switched into “end-of-shift” mode that afternoon. The team gathered at the festival grounds to celebrate the successful operation together.

Thrills on the Wild Mouse

After a thrilling ride on the Wild Mouse, we headed straight to the beer tent. With roast chicken, cold drinks, and high spirits, the technical field assignment turned into a thoroughly successful team event.

The conclusion of the day:

Whether high up in the air in the morning or unwinding in the evening – when precision and team spirit come together, things simply run smoothly at ROTEC!

ROTEC – we make ropes safe.
