9 years of ROTEC – that means four engineers, one idea, and, today, a global presence.

Nine years ago, Sven Winter, Dirk Moll, Martin Wehr, and Sebastian Traub founded ROTEC GmbH. What began back then in Stuttgart has since developed significantly.

The four founders already knew each other from their many years of working at the Institute for Handling Devices and Logistics at the University of Stuttgart. There, they had focused extensively on wire ropes, fiber ropes, cableway systems, and non-destructive rope testing.

Eventually, this gave rise to the idea of bringing the existing expertise together within a dedicated company, in order to continue supporting clients with experience and technical know-how.

No sooner said than done. In October 2017, ROTEC launched.

From Swabia to the World

What began in Stuttgart back then has long since grown well beyond the region. Today, ROTEC operates internationally, providing testing services and supporting clients with a wide range of tasks related to ropes and cable car systems.

Our ROPESYS-branded rope testing devices have also made their way out into the world. These devices are developed and manufactured entirely in Germany, and are sold and used across the globe.

These systems therefore contain not only a great deal of technology, but also the knowledge and experience with which everything began at ROTEC.

And because ropes are not used under the same conditions everywhere, the work remains varied. New projects bring new requirements. That is precisely what makes the daily routine exciting—even after nine years.

A breath of fresh air for the team

ROTEC has grown alongside its tasks. In recent years, many new colleagues have joined the company, bringing their experience and ideas to strengthen the team across development, manufacturing, and service.

After all, a growing company cannot be sustained indefinitely by the founding team alone. Today, more than 20 people work together to implement projects, develop solutions, and support clients.

This ensures a constant influx of fresh perspectives into the team, while the experience gained from the early years continues to play an important role.

Not a milestone anniversary, but a good reason to celebrate

9 years of ROTEC – while not a milestone anniversary, it is certainly a great occasion to look back. What began as a shared idea has evolved into a company that operates internationally, takes on new challenges, and continues to grow its team.

A big thank you therefore goes to our entire team, as well as to all the clients and partners who have accompanied us over the past years and placed their trust in us.

And now? Let’s carry on. There are surely more tasks waiting—and, after all, it won’t be long before the clock strikes ten.

ROTEC – we make ropes safe.
