A mind for technology, a heart for mountain air – welcome, Dieter!
Some people enjoy tinkering with machinery, while others are drawn to the mountains. Our new colleague, Dieter Müller, combines both! He joined the ROTEC team on October 1, 2026, bringing with him a wealth of experience, technical know-how, and a deep passion for rope technology.
From Wrench to Mechanical Engineering
His enthusiasm for technology began at an early age. As a child, Dieter’s favorite activity was tinkering with bicycles.
At the age of 13, he took up climbing through the mountain rescue service. A short while later, while training as a steel mold maker, he learned just how important precision and manual skill are.
From design engineer to developer of our testing equipment
Following his mechanical engineering studies in Esslingen, Dieter embarked on an impressive career. For nearly three decades, he worked in the design and development of machine tools and complex manufacturing systems.
In this capacity, he oversaw projects from the planning stage through to on-site implementation—including internationally.
He now brings this extensive expertise to ROTEC, where he contributes to the development and support of our testing equipment.
Tested at altitude: technology meets a passion for climbing
Dieter feels at home not only among construction blueprints. His second great passion is the mountains. Whether he’s climbing, ski touring, or out on his mountain bike, he’s happiest when he’s outdoors.
From Yosemite to Nepal
His climbing trips have taken him to places including Yosemite in North America, Patagonia, and even as far as Nepal. With a hobby like this, you’re guaranteed never to get bored!
Dieter also enjoys sharing his knowledge. As a qualified German Alpine Club (DAV) instructor for ski mountaineering and mountain biking, he contributes his extensive experience. Furthermore, as part of DAV section events, Dieter leads seminars on risk management in avalanche terrain.
And what if no peak is calling at the moment?
Dieter then prefers to spend his time with his family. They head off in their motorhome to the mountains or to the crags in the south.
A passion for the outdoors is, therefore, not just an occasional hobby—it’s simply an integral part of life.
A combination that suits ROTEC
Solving technical challenges while also possessing a deep understanding of what matters when it comes to ropes and working at heights—this combination makes Dieter a valuable addition to our team.
Dear Dieter, it’s great to have you with us! We look forward to working together, tackling exciting projects, and achieving many successes as a team.
