Cable car inspection Tenerife Pico del Teide – safety on the way to the summit.

Cable car inspection Tenerife:

Our ROTEC team was recently deployed on Spain’s highest mountain, the Pico del Teide in Tenerife. The “Teleférico del Teide” cable car is one of the most spectacular installations in Europe – and we have been inspecting it for many years. This year, we again examined the entire system as part of a safety analysis.

Annual safety analysis for maximum reliability

This time, the ROTEC inspection included not only the traditional visual and system inspection. Our experts also conducted a magnetic induction rope inspection of the suspension and traction ropes. This included our proven ROPESYS rope testing device, which reliably detects internal damage such as wire breaks, corrosion, or cross-sectional losses.

Experience meets technology

What makes this system so special is that the cable car takes you to an altitude of over 3,500 meters—directly to the summit of Mount Teide. The climatic conditions at this altitude are extreme. Strong sunlight, temperature fluctuations, and wind all affect the cables. This makes regular, non-destructive inspection of all safety-relevant components all the more important.

Collaboration for many years – trust counts

We have been working closely with the operator, Teleférico del Teide, for many years. This trusting collaboration enables us to prepare and conduct our inspections smoothly – even at lofty heights. Because only those who understand safety can operate reliably over the long term.

State-of-the-art technology for maximum safety

The measurement data from the rope inspection is transmitted wirelessly in real time and then automatically evaluated. This allows potential damage to be identified early and maintenance to be planned specifically. This ensures that the cable car remains not only safe but also economically efficient.

Thank you, Tenerife!

We would like to thank the entire Teleférico del Teide team for their continued collaboration. It’s always a pleasure for us to work with highly professional operators like this – on an equal footing, with technology and responsibility.

ROTEC – we make ropes safe.
