Automated rope lubricator

“Less is more” – this philosophie of permanent lubrication in small amounts is followed by the newest product development of the ROTEC GmbH a device for permanent rope lubrication of ropeway ropes. The development was a cooperation with the producer of lubricants ELASKON Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG.

PERMANENT ROPE LUBRICATION

In Cooperation with ELASKON Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG the ROTEC GmbH has developed a device for automated rope lubrication for ropeway ropes. The combination of automated and accurately dosed lubrication and the especially developed lubricant NK-A is able to counter arguments against lubrication and the fear of defective rollers, dirty stations or slipped clamps.

LUBRICANT NK-A

The lubricant NK-A from the ELASKON Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG was especially developed for usage in ropeways. It stays clear, creeps into the inside of the rope fast and stays mostly preserved between the wires, even under pressure. The compatibility with traditional rollers was proved during tests. Furthermore, the preservation of pull-off forces of clamps, when using NK-A professionally, was proved at the Technical University of Dresden.

INCREASE OF LIFETIME

Every circulation of a rope over sheaves is causing shifting and bending of wires within the rope construction. The smoother a rope, the gentler the process. Whereas a dry or even corroded rope is hindering the sliding movement of wires and the rope is wearing faster. Through lubrication flexibility of the rope is retained and lifetime can be significantly – by many years – greater, as if the rope is moving dry. The automated rope lubricator allows permanent lubrication with small amounts and therefore a sustainable improvement of running characteristics and lifetime of the rope.

FUNCTIONALITY

Depending on the parameters rope construction, nominal diameter, rope length, average operating hours per year or per season and the average nominal velocity during summer and winter season the necessary amount of lubricant is calculated. By counting of strand crowns by the rope sensor the dosing pump is releasing a defined quantity of lubricant on the rope. Through this philosophy of automated lubrication, the rope is receiving small amounts of lubrication permanently without the formation of oily moisture or an oil film on the surface.
