The goal is to develop a method for non-destructive testing of fiber ropes to determine their discard maturity. <\/p>\n<p>The background is that fiber ropes, while offering technical and economic advantages over steel ropes in many applications, currently lack a reliable method for determining their discard maturity. As a result, fiber ropes can still only be used to a limited extent in safety-critical applications. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, the first sensor prototype was completed.
